A tall shell in fibreglass-reinforced polyester, lacquered white and lined with leather, set on a solid, rounded base; the ottoman repeats its cap on a smaller scale. The seat tips over and then returns upright, hence its name.
Marc Held designed the Culbuto in 1967; Knoll put it into production in 1970, when moulded polyester at last made it possible to produce seats in one piece, with no legs or visible structure. The Centre Pompidou holds an example, which entered the collection as a gift in 1999.
The armchair and its ottoman are together, shell and cap lacquered white, both lined with leather.
