Seven drawers in pear veneer, their vertical chrome-plated handles aligned from one drawer to the next to trace a single line up the full height. The case rests on a cross-shaped base, held between four black lacquered metal spindles tipped with chrome.
An interior architect, Michel Boyer (1935–2011) designed the Rothschild bank in Paris, then the French embassies in Washington and Brasília. He designed the furniture for his projects and distributed it himself through Galerie Rouve. Pearwood sits alongside chrome-plated or lacquered metal: this contrast between pale wood and metal runs through all his work.
“Victoire” model, produced by Rouve around 1988. Each drawer opens across the full width of the case, and the spindles, set apart from the sides, keep the piece legible in profile as well as from the front.
