Tubular steel frame, foam and cotton velvet
Very good condition

A low seat in one piece, with no visible legs or armrests, and a separate shield-shaped back. The bent steel frame and its webbing disappear entirely under the foam: only a continuous silhouette remains.
Olivier Mourgue designed the Djinn series in 1964-1965 for Airborne. The name refers to the djinns, spirits of Muslim tradition able to change shape. Stanley Kubrick furnished the orbital station of 2001: A Space Odyssey with them, which lastingly fixed the series as the image of the seat of the future. An example is held in the collections of the Centre Pompidou.
Two identical armchairs are available, fully reupholstered in Kvadrat cotton velvet. They are sold individually or as a pair.
The two-seater sofa from the same series is available separately.
