Bubble glass
Good condition, a chip on the ladle
€400
A cylindrical bowl with a flared lip, eight short-stemmed glasses and a matching ladle, all in the same smoked glass in which the bubbles are held in regular suspension.
The Verrerie de Biot was founded in 1956 by Éloï Monod, a ceramic engineer. The bubble trapped in the glass first appeared as a manufacturing flaw: Monod chose to keep it, then made it the workshop’s signature. Bubble glass has since been one of the few French post-war productions identifiable by its material alone.
A complete and consistent set — bowl, ladle and eight glasses come from the same production.
