Low Seating, 1965-1972

In a few years, the seat ceased to be a piece of joinery. No more turned legs, no more assemblies: a bent steel frame, moulded foam over it, a cover stretched like a garment. Pierre Paulin borrowed these solutions from the car industry; Airborne, a manufacturer from the Landes, put them into production.

The result can be recognised at a glance — the seat drops towards the floor, the silhouette becomes continuous, and you can no longer see how the object holds together.
