Blown glass and murrine

A bowl in clear blown glass with a thick wall, in which a scattering of blue-grey and orange murrine rises from the base and thins out towards the rim. Each disc keeps its concentric eye. The slightly irregular rim is an intended finish of the making.
Designed by Gae Aulenti for Vistosi, the Venetian glassworks with which the Milanese architect worked from 1965 onwards — one of the many crossings of Italian architects into Murano glass at the time.
A compact format, as a bowl or salad bowl, conceived as an occasional piece for a table or a console.
